Liuwa Plain National Park
Located in southwestern Zambia, this remote 1413-square-mile (3660 km2) park of open plains contains large numbers of wildebeest along with lion, hyena and spectacular numbers of migrating birds.
Wildlife, however, should be considered a plus and not the main reason for traveling to this seldom-visited park, which is more suited for bird watchers and for those looking to travel in a remote wilderness area and to meet Africans who have had little contact with tourists.
