Lake Mburo National Park
Formerly a game reserve, Lake Mburo National Park is located in southwestern Uganda between Masaka and Mbarara. This approximately 200-square-mile (520 km2) park is named after Lake Mburo, the largest of the park’s fourteen lakes.
The park is characterized by open plains in the north, acacia grassland in the center and lakes and marshes in the south, and is bounded by the Kampala-Mbarara road on the north, Lake Kachera on the east and the Ruizi River on the west.
Wildlife includes hippo, buffalo, leopard, zebra, eland, roan antelope, reedbuck, topi, bushbuck, and klipspringer. Impala, which do not exist in any other park in Uganda, are numerous. There are some lion and leopard.

The Zimbabwe (southern) side of the lake is currently more developed than the Zambia (northern) side of the lake. Canoe safaris are offered downstream of Kariba Dam through the Kariba Gorge.

Lake Natron Region Lake Natron, Located Between The Ngorongoro ConserŽvation Area And The Kenya Border, Is A Shallow, Alkaline Lake Approximately 38 Miles Long And 15 Miles Wide (60 X 25 Km). This Remote Lake Is One Of East Africa's Largest Breeding Areas For Flamingos. South Of Lake Natron Is Oldoinyo Lengai, The Only Active Carbonatite Volcano In The World And Holy Mountain Of The Masai. This Steep Mountain Takes About 10 Hours To Climb And Return To Its Base. The Gol Mountains, Located Between Lake Natron And The Serengeti, Is An Interesting Area For Hiking.

Lake Rwihinda Nature Reserve
Lake Rwihinda Nature Reserve (Reserve Naturelle Geree Du Lac Rwihinda) The Lake Rwihinda Nature Reserve and the other lakes in the northern part of the country, located approximately 125 miles (202 km) from Bujumbura, are called the "Lakes of the Birds" and include Lakes Cohoha, Rweru, Kanzigiri and Gacamirinda; they are a bird watcher's paradise.
