The Great Ruaha River With Its Impressive Gorges, Deep Pools And Rapids Runs For 100 Miles (160 Km) Close To The Park’s Eastern Boundary And Is Home To Many Hippos And Crocodiles. The Best Place In The Park To See Elephant Is From The Track That Runs Along The Ruaha River Downstream From Msembe.

The Dry Season, June-November, Is The Best Time To Visit The Park When Game Is Concentrated Along The Ruaha River. Large Numbers Of Greater And Lesser Kudu, Elephant, Wilde¬beest And Impala Can Be Seen Along With Eland, Sable Antelope, Roan Antelope, Buffalo, Defassa Waterbuck, Ostrich And Giraffe. Lion, Leopard, Spotted And Striped Hyena, Black-Backed Jackal, Bat-Eared Fox And African Wild Dog Are Also Present In Signifi¬cant Numbers. Black Rhino Are Present But Seldom Seen. Over 400 Species Of Birds Have Been Recorded.

Many Tracks Become Impassable During The Wet Months January-March And The Wildlife Is Scattered. Game Viewing, February-June, Is Difficult Due To High Grass. Tsetse Flies Are Present, Especially In The Miombo Woodlands.

There Are A Number Of Photographic Hides (Blinds) And Tree-Houses Overlooking Watering Areas Allowing Close Views Of Wildlife Undisturbed By The Presence Of Man.

The Park Is About A Four-Hour Drive From Iringa Through The Villages Of Mloa And Idodi And Across The Ruaha River Via The Ibuguziwa Ferry. Park Headquarters And An Airstrip Are Located At Msembe, 70 Miles (112 Km) From Iringa And 385 Miles (615 Km) From Dar Es Salaam.

Accommodation - Class B/C: * Mwagusi Safari Camp Has Six Tents With Ensuite Facilities. * Ruaha River Camp, Located In The Park Six Miles (10 Km) South Of Msembe, Has 28 Stone And Thatch Bandas And Tents In A Natural Setting, Most With Ensuite Facilities.
Class F: * National Park Rondavels (Self-Service) Are Situated At Msembe.
Camping: Campsites Are Available.

Kyle Recreational Park

Kyle Recreational Park Located twenty miles southwest of Masvingo, this 65-square-mile (169 km2) park is a great place to go horseback riding among white rhino and a variety of other game. Pony trails are led by a park ranger into the fenced wildlife section of the park. Accommodation - Tourist Class: See "Great Zimbabwe." CLASSES D & F: * National Park Lodges, some with private facilities and others without, are available. Camping: Camping and caravan sites with ablution blocks are located near the National Park office and at Sikato Bay Camp on the west bank of Lake Kyle.

Morne Seychellois National Park This 11-Square-Mile (30 Km2) Park Covers Much Of North¬west Mahe, With Altitudes Ranging From Sea Level To 2969 Feet (905 M). There Are Hiking Trails From Sans Souci Road To Copolia (1630 Ft./497 M), Morne Blanc (2188 Ft/667 M) And Trois Freres (2293 Ft./699 M). Birdlife Includes The Blue Pigeon, Seychelles Bulbul, Seychelles Kestrel, Cave Swiftlet, Sunbird And Seychelles White-Eye. The Mountain Road This route cuts through the center of Lesotho from west to east through spectacular mountain scenery to "The Roof of Africa."
