Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve
Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve includes a portion of the 4600-square-mile (12,000 km2) Makgadikgadi Pans, which are the size of Portugal. The pans are nearly devoid of human habitation and give one a true feeling of isolation.
Once one of the world’s largest prehistoric lakes, the Makgadikgadi Pans are salt plains covered with grasslands and isolated “land islands” of vegetation, baobab and palm trees.
The reserve itself covers about 1550 square miles (3900 km2) and is located south of the Maun-Nata road in northern Botswana, and borders Nxai Pan National Park to the north. Large herds of blue wildebeest, zebra, springbok, gemsbok and thousands of flamingos can usually be seen December-March. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is highly recommended.

Khutse Game Reserve
Khutse Game Reserve The Khutse Game Reserve shares its northern boundary with the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and is the closest reserve to Gaborone. Khutse covers 965 square miles (2500 km2) of gently rolling savannah and pans (over 50), and is best known for its birdlife. Lion, leopard, cheetah, and antelope adapted to an arid environment are present. However, wildlife is seasonal, de¬pending on the rains. If there has been little rain, then game is usually scarce. The best time to visit is after the rainy season has begun, usually December-April. Khutse is a five-hour drive (136 miles/220 km) from Gaborone via Molepolole.
Mabuasehube Game Reserve
Mabuasehube Game Reserve Mabuasehube is an extremely remote reserve in south¬western Botswana. Mabuasehube is about 695 square miles (1800 km2) in size and shares its western border with Gemsbok National Park. The park has six large pans and sand dunes over 100 feet (30 m) high. The best time to visit is during the rainy season October-April when an abundance of eland, hartebeest, gemsbok, wilde¬beest, springbok, lion and other predators are present. Mabuasehube is 333 miles (533 km) from Gaborone. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is needed, and the drive takes at least 11 hours. Accommodation: None. Camping: No facilities. Popa Falls Game Reserve
Popa Falls Game Reserve This Small Park Features Rapids (More So Than "Falls") Of The Kavango River, Which Has Numerous Hippo And Crocs. This Is A Good Base From Which To Explore The Mahango Game Reserve And Caprivi Game Reserve. Accommodation - Class D: * Popa Falls Government Camp, Located About Ten Miles North Of The Mahango Game Reserve Entrance, Has Thatched Bungalows And Ablution Facilities. Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Central Kalahari Game Reserve This 20,000-square-mile (52,000 km2) reserve, one of the largest reserves in the world, covers but a portion of the Kalahari Desert. There is an abundance of wildebeest, harte-beest, springbok, gemsbok, ostrich, eland, lion, cheetah, and giraffe — especially in the rainy season December-April. May and June may also be good months for game viewing. Accommodation: None. Camping: No facilities. Travelers must be self-sufficient and use four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Kazuma Pan National Park
Kazuma Pan National Park Located north of Hwange National Park in the Matetsi Safari Area, Kazuma Pan National Park is a small park (121 sq. mi./313 km2) that has a series of pans that flood in the rainy season. The eastern part of the park is wooded with more water and a greater variety and concentration of wildlife than the western side of the park, which is predominantly grasslands. Lion and cheetah are often seen. The park is open to campers who are self-contained. Walking is allowed with a profession¬ally licensed guide. There are no facilities.

Mahango Game Reserve Mahango Is A 96-Square-Mile (250 Km2) Reserve Of Flood-Plain And Lush Vegetated Savannah With Baobab Trees. The Park Is Situated Along The Banks Of The Kavango River And Bordered By The Caprivi Game Reserve On The East. Wildlife Includes Elephant, Hippo, Crocs, Waterbuck, Lechwe, Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Kudu, Tsessebe, Impala, And The Rare Sitatunga. Bird Life Includes Fish Eagles, Wattled Crane, Crowned Crane And African Skimmers. Rusizi Nature Reserve (Reserve Geree De La Rusizi) Entrances to this 35 square mile (90 km2) reserve are located nine to sixteen miles (15-23 km) northwest of Bujum¬bura. The park has hippo, crocs, and a variety of birdlife.

This 92-Square-Mile (239 Km2) Park Is Characterized By Rocky Hills And Scattered Thornbush. Volcanic Rock Is Present In Many Areas, Mt.
